Grassroots Arts Program Agency
The Grassroots Arts Program (GAP) is a decentralized funding program which began in 1993. The Georgia General Assembly appropriates funds annually for each of the 159 counties in Georgia.
Georgia Council for the Arts directs the Grassroots Arts Program through regional GAP Agencies. The Arts Council serves as the GAP Agency for Banks, Barrow, Cherokee, Dawson, Forsyth, Franklin, Gwinnett, Hall, Hart, and Jackson counties.
The purpose of Grassroots Arts Agencies is to provide grants to lend a hand to local organizations, who in turn provide a service to the public.
Each grantee must match the grant funds with money raised locally through ticket sales, donations or other fundraising efforts to demonstrate a dedication to this public service.
