The Arts Council, Inc. owns and operates two magnificent facilities:
The Arts Council Smithgall Arts Center is a beautifully restored train depot on a 2.5 acre land tract in the heart of downtown Gainesville, Georgia. It serves as headquarters for The Arts Council, Inc. administrative offices, home to our permanent art gallery, and host for our Evenings of Intimate Jazz Series™, many outdoor concerts, movies and other arts events. The Smithgall Arts Center is also a favorite rental site for weddings, receptions, meetings, parties, and small conventions. Recently added to its grounds is a sculpture garden featuring works of regional and national artists.
The Arts Council Performing Arts Complex was the former First Methodist Church of Gainesville (which later became Westminster Presbyterian Church and school) is now home to three Arts Council properties, our performing arts auditorium, educational wing, and The Arts Council Cottage. Meeting, studio and office space is available for rent in the education wing on a limited basis. The Arts Council Cottage provides a quaint setting for small weddings, arts events, meetings or parties.
